How we research

Every state fact comes from the state's own statute, regulation, utility commission or consumer advocate page. We link that source and record the date we last checked it. If an official page could not be checked directly, we flag the fact as not yet verified on the page. We do not use AI-generated or third-party summaries as sources.

Federal LIHEAP information comes from the U.S. Administration for Children and Families (acf.gov).
